However the irony is that as we send aid just 60 miles away at Warton on the Lancashire coast the United Kingdom manufactures warplanes to supply to Saudi Arabia the same country thought to be an important source of funding for groups such as ISIS which attacked Manchester last week.
The Manx Chief Minister, Howard Quayle, MHK has said the further aid matches the severity of the crisis in the area. Yemen in particular has suffered severe shortages of food, water and medical supplies since the Saudi coalition launched a bombing campaign in 2015.
Sadly those suffering most are children many to young to understand the nature of the tragedy unfolding around them as family and friends are killed or terribly maimed.
A broad coalition of politicians and NGOs in the UK are pressing the government to stop arming the Saudis.
