Report here from Blue Planet of a large number of super trawlers hoovering the seas to the south of Britain. The vessel illustrated (‘Helen Mary’) at over 7000 tonnes can catch and process up to 200 tonnes of fish a day.

THE DEATH SHIPS ARE BACK

There are no fewer than ELEVEN midwater supertrawlers currently operating in the English Channel between Brighton and Eastbourne.

Pelagic factory trawlers Afrika, Alida, Annie Hillina, Carolien, Frank Bonefaas, Helen Mary, Maartje Theadora, Prins Bernhard, Sandettie and Zeeland all appear to be fishing in mid-channel.

We have been monitoring these vessels for many years now and wherever they go dead dolphins follow in their wake.

Please report any marine mammal strandings here http://ukstrandings.org/how-to-report-a-stranding/
