NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE

I advised yesterday that we were tracking the progress of the MFV ANNELIES ILENA the Dutch registered trawler which is the largest in the world and when first commissioned (in Ireland as the ATLANTIC DAWN) some years ago it was dubbed the sea monster.

Our earlier item included a video which show the sheer volume of fish the vessel can vacuum up and process (on board) with here crew of 60. Here’s another:

As we anticipated the vessel is ‘harvesting’ off the Celtic countries and has been fishing a tight box of sea to the South of Cornwall and North of the Channel Isles in the area of the Hurd Deep.

It’s not clear what the catch is but the fishing pattern of the vessel indicate its found lucrative business possibly mackerel which winter off shore in that area.

Whatever the catch there will be not much left for the smaller trawlers from Cornwall and the SW and Brittany

Is this really what the EU call sustaining the fishing stock!
