Easter’s past but I haven’t forgotten Pearse and ‘the Rising’ an event that rocked the British Empire to its foundations. Everything that could be written about Pearse has been – but nonetheless Irish Central produces a good synopsis of the great man.
There is reference to his early life. His teaching and the founding of Scoil Éanna (St Enda’s School). Myself and the late wife visited Scoil Éanna in the 1980s as part of a tour arranged by (An Conradh Ceilteach) the Irish Branch of the Celtic League. The (Pearse) museum was not long opened then and not the ‘must do’ on the 1916 trail that the commemorations of recent years have made it. A lovely setting in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Memorable!
