My query to RAF Valley gets a swift response from the media communications Officer which impresses me. To date the record for responding to a Celtic League query has been held by the (then) Irish Foreign Minister Charles Flannagan TD in about six minutes one weekend. RAF Valley has pipped that. However at that point my joy diminishes as sadly they cannot divulge the info (see below):

“P’nawn da Bernard,

“I’m afraid that this sort of information is not in my gift to disclose, so I will pass it to my colleagues at HQ Air Command for a response.

“Kind regards,

“Dave Williams

Sqn Ldr DM Williams”

Looks like I’ll have to wait for High Wycombe to respond. Should be interesting back in the 1990s when they were training Indonesian air crew out of Valley we queried the fees and as I recall they were quite modest. But times move on and no one gets something for nothing these days – do they? Let’s be blunt I should imagine the Saudis and their Gulf chums don’t get a knockdown deal from the UK for any training facilities they use.

On an unrelated costs topic I note my query to the IOM Government about costs for the Lt Governor and his upkeep still remains in the pending tray. Maybe the Crown division of the IOM government should get media communications at RAF Valley to run a course for them!
