Springfields nuclear site

News from Mannin Branch of the Celtic league:

Springfields nuclear site near Preston in Lancs is one we don’t normally focus on but it’s as well to maintain a balanced picture where UK nuclear facilities around the the Irish Sea are concerned.

The plant had a laboratory spillage of uranium a few months ago and recently has had its ‘emergency planning area revised’.

Relevant reports here from the UK Office of Nuclear Regulation whose ‘epistles’ we love to keep abreast of – well after all someone has to read them presumably no one in the Isle of Man government never does,

As a footnote ONR do not have seem to have anything on their website yet about the explosives scare at Sellafield (perhaps we’ve missed it) which seems a curious omission.
