Dear Mr Varadkar,

Ref. P & O – Peel Ports Dispute

I am sure you will agree that at this critical time infrastructure links between Britain and Ireland are more vital than ever. The League have therefore followed with interest and concern the dispute between P & O Ferries and Peel Ports (Liverpool) which disrupted sayings between Dublin and Liverpool for a week.

During the dispute each side accused the other of disrupting essential medical and food supplies.

Can your Office which was involved in trying to resolve the impasse quantity what IF ANY essential supplies were disrupted and if this caused any serious threat.

I would hope that the Irish government will impress upon the UK government that it is important that communications, particularly logistical ones, are not prone to disruption due to commercial disputes at a critical time for both countries and indeed Europe generally.
