Manx Government Should Wake Up To Danger of Saudi Pilots

The danger of allowing foreign aircrew from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States and who use bases a RAF Valley for training to operate over the Isle of Man via the Civil Airport at Ronaldsway is emphasized by the incident today in which a Saudi aviation student ran amok and killed several people at a US base in Florida:

Celtic League has condemned the use os Ronaldsway over human rights concerns about Saudi involvement in aggression in Yemen. MHKs like Clare Barber have also pressed the Chief Minister on the issue.

The Manx government says it has no control over what personnel operate over the Isle of Man however the League has seen a constitutional document which says that UK military personnel and (those they train) should only utilise the Island after consultation with the Manx government.

Bernard Moffatt, Assistant General Secretary Celtic League (7 December 2019)
