Irish Government Back Down On ‘Tans’ Commemoration

A controversial decision by the Fine Gael government to have an official commemoration for the Royal Irish Constabulary and Dublin Metropolitan Police has been scrapped. The Irish Justice Minister was to have attended the commemoration in an official capacity and it was to be held at Dublin Castle from where RIC and Black and Tan squads operated during the War of Independence.

Celtic League had highlighted the growing controversy about the issue.
