Concern at Lack of NGO Consultation By Governments

NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE

The Manx Branch of the Celtic League is to ask the General Secretary of the League to press the Irish, Manx, United Kingdom and French governments to ensure that they involve accredited Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in consultation prior to submitting reports to United Nations bodies.

The Celtic League is an accredited NGO with roster status to ECOSOC (The United Nations Economic and Social Council).

The UN stresses the need for full involvement of NGOs in the reporting stage process but as far as the Manx Branch can ascertain the Manx (and some of the other governments) do not actively encourage NGO participation.
