A new secretary has been elected in Cymru (Wales) for the first time in ten years following a branch meeting at Tremeirchion, St Asaph in the north of Wales.

League members at the meeting voted unanimously for Adam Phillips who lives in Yr Wyddgrug (Mold) in north Wales, to replace Robat ap Tomos who has been branch secretary for the past ten years. Mr Phillips was proposed by the general secretary (GS) of the League, Rhisiart Tal-e-bot and seconded by Mr Tomos, who wants to step down from the post to encourage new members to take the lead. Mr Tomos said:

“Mr Phillips is a dynamic and committed activist and I am sure he will do a fantastic job as branch secretary.”

At the meeting the GS said that he had known Mr Phillips for the past three years and had been impressed by his organisational skills in arranging events throughout Wales and in bringing people together. The GS thanked Mr Tomos for his work as Cymru branch secretary over the years and looked forward to working closely with Mr Phillips more in the future. Mr Phillips said that now he has been elected to the post of Cymru Branch Secretary he will aim to be fully active in the role by August and believed that there was a lot of scope for the development of the branch in Wales.
