Annie Borjesson was found dead in December 2005 on an area of the Prestwick beach the sea seldom reached other than in high tide and bad weather. There was freshwater algae on her body although this was only discovered after her parents had a second post mortem carried out when her body was returned to Sweden, Her possessions were grouped around her body despite a normal situation being that items of different weight and composition would have been dispersed by the tide.
Although her backpack was still still sealed and library books in it intact a filofax she carried with personal data in was missing. Additionally phone record data from the three days prior to her death was missing, not only deleted from her phone but with no detail held by telecom providers.
Most bizarrely a red fleece she was seen wearing in the last CCTV footage of her recorded at Prestwick Airport under her coat was missing although she was still wearing her coat.
Scottish police speculated she may have been depressed prior to her death but the fact that she went to Prestwick the normal airport for her flights home to Sweden (there was a flight later that day) indicates a trip home for Xmax 2005. Indeed she had booked a hairdressing appointment for a few days later…in Sweden!
