NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
A reminder that (as previously publicised) the National Illiam Dhone Commemoration takes place on January 2nd (2:00pm) at Hango Hill, Castletown
This year’s oration in the Manx language will be delivered by Isla Callister followed by another in English by Peter Crellin. Contrary to some people’s belief, these orations are not translations of each other.
You also have the opportunity to show your commitment to the Isle of Man by signing up for Mec Vannin or indeed the Celtic League. Both organizations’ officials will be present at the Hill.
A copy of the latest edition of Yn Pabyr Seyr the Mec Vannin free newspaper should be available.
I’ve dug out this video of the commemoration in 2013 which was a special year marking not just the 350th anniversary of the execution of Illiam Dhone but the 50th anniversary of the founding of Mec Vannin and the political nationalist movement.
I spoke at length about those events.
