Mec Vannin and the Celtic Leagues decision to break with tradition and allow two English orations on the theme of climate change, at the annual Illiam Dhone commemoration, was spot on as both Devon Watson and Paul Craine delivered respectively clear and powerful messages about the crisis that confronts the globe.

The ceremony at Hango Hill was held in appalling weather but that’s nothing strange for the Isle of Man at that spot and at this time of year. Today’s weather will however pale into insignificance compared to the weather turbulence that a failure to address climate change portends!
