I mentioned in a review of some Manx items (at Mannin Branch Facebook) in the current issue of Carn that there was also an interesting piece about Desmond Greaves. Greaves of course was a pivotal figure in the Connolly Association and close friend of both Peter Beresford Ellis and Brian Stowell.
The League had close ties with the association. Brian Stowell, also a leading figure in the group, was a lifelong member of the Celtic League and indeed arranged for me to speak on behalf of the Celtic League at a major conference in Liverpool over forty years ago on pollution in the Irish Sea.
In addition to being a significant strategist and theorist for Republican Socialism was also a most convivial figure. Just a reference to ‘Desmond’ and you knew instantly who people were speaking of.
