More detail on the Kennish memorial project. The memorial stone will be quarried and carved here (in Foxdale) and then crated and shipped over to Skelmersdale before an international carrier will pick it up and ship it via Manchester airport to New York.
A fundraising project goes live from December and it’s organised by Robert Stimpson who has written a biography of Kennish (see link at foot of this article).
An “All or Nothing Crowdfunding” effort is to be set up. This means if the target which is £4,000 is not reached then no money is taken from donors. It is hoped people in both Mann and the US will contribute.
I sincerely hope this target can be reached and this great Manxman properly commemorated.
The site www.crowdfunder.co.uk/William-Kennish-Memorial should go live on 1st December and there will be 30 days to raise the funds before it is automatically closed.
