NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
We are already cash-strapped with indications that there is an exodus of people from the Island if the housing market is anything to go by and recent downturns in the construction industry.
There’s fuel poverty and in some instances food poverty!
There seems that little confidence in the possibility of self generating investment in the Isle of Man otherwise in a last desperate throw of the dice the Manx government would not have committed £50 million of our reserves in a great New Year give-away which even on conservative estimations will see £17 to £20 million wasted.
Just one question with so much uncertainty and so much doubt about our fiscal security should we start this new financial years by committing to spending over half a million a year plus on a Lt Governor and his living expenses?
This costly farce gone on for long enough can we really afford to indulge in this pageant of nonsense?
It’s time we had the last episode of ‘Downtown Abbey’ off Blackberry Lane!
