The Celtic League are following up on queries we made about abuse in the military cadet forces several years ago after it was revealed millions of pounds had been paid to hush up sex abuse cases. Two years after we highlighted the issue BBC Panorama produced a programme on the issue:

Earlier we had written to the Children’s Commissioners in Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland and also notified the UNCRC:

We also wrote to the Home Office who were setting up the ‘Goddard inquiry’ ( Independent Panel Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse) into institutional abuse seeking assurances that the inquiries remit would include the military cadet forces. We subsequently received that assurance (link):

Subsequently Lord Justice Goddard resigned from the lead of the Inquiry and we were disappointed to see in reports that the military cadet forces do not now seem to feature in its remit.
