The republican hunger-striker Bobby Sands who died forty years ago this week has been remembered in a ceremony by Breton nationalists at the ‘Jardin Bobby Sands’ (memorial garden) in Plougastel-Daoulas.

Sands is remembered elsewhere in Breizh – a street is named after him in Naoned (Nantes).

“I may die, but the Republic of 1916 will never die. Onward to the Republic and liberation of our people.” (Bobby Sands)
