There will be a break with tradition at the 2015 annual Illiam Dhone commemoration on 2nd January which will see three speakers address those attending Hango Hill ahead of the wreath laying ceremony in memory of Manx martyr William Christian (Illiam Dhone).

Mark Kermode Chairman of Mec Vannin will make an opening address in (Manx and English) which he will convey a hard hitting appraisal to the performance of the Manx government over the past twelve months.

The Manx oration will follow with this year’s speaker Cesar Joughin and the final (English) oration will be by Alistair Kneale.

As well as being Chair of Mec Vannin Mark Kermode also heads the local branch of the Celtic League. He is a former Assistant General Secretary of the League and took a prominent role in the Leagues involvement in the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights. Mark is a fluent Manx speaker.

Cesar Joughin is the son of Greg and Hilary Joughin who are both well known in cultural circles on the Isle of Man.

The third speaker was born and brought on the Isle of Man. Thereafter he studied in England and has worked in London for many years. He is the current President of Yn Cheshaght Vanninagh Lunnin (The London Manx Society). He is a keen supporter of the Manx language and is one of the founders of the inter-celtic website transceltic.com.

Copies of the speeches made at the Hill will be available on the day in an issue of the Mec Vannin newspaper, Yn Pabyr Seyr.

Proceedings commence at 2:00pm prompt at Hango Hill and events at the hill will be followed later in the afternoon by a social gathering at the Glue Pot public house in Castletown.
