League DOI says Manx Govt response on Saudi training ‘Not Good Enough’

Alastair Kneale, Celtic League Director of Information, highlights some aspects of resolutions adopted at the recent AGM and particularly the Saudi pilot training issue in this piece on Manx Radio:

The League says Kneale will continue its efforts as part of a broader effort Internationally against Saudi aggression which has killed many innocent men women and children in Yemen.

The League AGM next year is in Wales so its possible that some events could be focused on the issue at that time as well. This is a long term project and we will continue to oppose the use of air space in the Celtic countries to train any ‘rag bag regimes’ the UK chose to sell their military hardware to.

Kneale is correct to highlight that whilst the Isle of Man Government does have a constitutional imperative in terms of links with the UK over Defence, regimes like the Saudis and their Gulf Allies are not part of this arrangement and the Manx government’s position has been both misleading in terms of the public and Tynwald where the matter was raised.
