NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
The Annual General Meeting of the Celtic League will be held in Dublin on March 25th – 27th 2016.
Although last years AGM (a brief report on which appears in Carn 162) was also held in Dublin it was agreed that as 2016 marks the centenary of the Easter Rising that it would be fitting to hold the AGM in conjunction with this so that League members could if they wish join the commemorative march on March 27th.
Although no meeting place venue has yet been confirmed will possibly be (as last year) the Conradh na Gaeilge HQ in Dublin.
It is hoped that there will be a good attendance of delegates from the other Celtic countries and bearing in mind the pressure on both accommodation and travel at what will be a busy times branches should start to make arrangements asap.
Further information will be issued by An Conradh Ceilteach (the Irish branch of the Celtic League) nearer the time.
Celtic League members also attended the 1966 (50th year celebration) of the Rising and at that time a number of delegations from nationalist groups in the various Celtic countries also attended including Mec Vannin (MV) from Mann and the FWA from Cymru.
RTE have some footage of the MV delegates at the 1966 commemoration but unfortunately attempts to obtain a copy have been unsuccessful – to date.
