Yn Commeeys Celtiagh  Mannin (the Isle of Man) claims over 1000 years of self government but the history shows that the independence has been barely visible at times. The post war governments have concentrated on creating an English tax anomaly based on English / British immigration with the result that the native Manx are severely minoritised both numerically and economically. The language never actually died out but its current survival is extremely tenuous. |
